Broken shreds
I’m torn between two people
Born of the same father
Brought up in different worlds
Things were going better
Until a moment ago
When Palestinians fired four mortars
And Israeli tanks slained Palestinian youths
A forlorn circle of global diasporas
They have fought and lied
God seems to have left them alone
To
crawl on all fours
In the burning sand
To reach groundhog day
Covered with blood
I love them both
But I’m not good enough for them
They need someone close and
dear
Someone who is near
Someone who loves them all
the same
I’m confused and in pain
My mind is jumbled with random thoughts
Thoughts of vain
And thoughts of love
This is a choice for them
Ought they choose hatred?
That kills the colors?
That shreds the wings?
That darkens the lights?
